I visited Mayapán Maya Pyramid ruin in Yucatan Mexico just east of the big city of Merida, Yucatan Mexico.
It’s like a mini Chichen Itza and a lot less crowded. It’s about an hour drive southwest from Merida.
I recommend you come by 8 am to beat the big tourist buses which arrive by 10 am. Most only stay an hour max. We were there from 8 am to 12 pm enjoying the sights and meditating on top of the pyramid before going into Merida for lunch.
You can climb on top of everything. And because it’s a small site you have an excellent view of it all.
Highly recommend meditating at the top of the pyramid. There is no mobile phone service so make sure you download your favorite meditation music on your smartphone beforehand.
The climb up the pyramid is far easier on the right side and not the front.
There are bathrooms which are pretty good but no other services so bring plenty of water it can get hot here in the summer.
